The place was cheap, but it looked awful. The TV didn’t work, there wasn’t a remote or a microwave, and the sheets smelled as if they hadn’t been washed. Roaches, too.

We arrived to find no parking, with everyone apparently at the bar. The music and bass shook the windows until after 1:30 a.m., so sleep was out of the question until they turned it down. The hotel is very run down and attached to a nightclub. Most rooms seemed unusable and were being used for storage; the few available ones looked as though people had been living in them long term. There’s no elevator to the second floor, and there was trash everywhere along with people who appeared to be homeless.

The manager showed no respect, and this place is filthy. I found bed bugs and will never rent here again. It needs to be shut down, and I wouldn’t send anyone here.

I’ve stayed long term at The Cozy Inn on and off for over eight or nine years, and for most of that time I always felt safe and was treated well. It’s been a little over a year since my last stay, though, and this visit has been upsetting. I’m almost 64 and disabled, and the two newer women at the front desk have treated me terribly. I accidentally lit a cigarette in the poker room, did what they asked when they told me not to, and was still barred from playing. When I came back the next evening and went to the poker room because they weren’t at the desk, one of them came in yelling, swearing, and threatening to kick me out in front of another customer. They claimed there was a law against lighting a cigarette near a poker machine and that LSM had to give me permission to return. I hadn’t argued with them before they started shouting at me, and I’d done what they asked. I can’t understand why they treated a paying customer like that. I’ve also been waiting four days for a TV remote, and they won’t move me to a room with an icebox. I need to refrigerate food because I’m diabetic and need to be able to order it. One of the women refused to get me ice yesterday, so I had to go across the street and buy a song, even though I can’t walk upstairs. They also won’t tell me where Andy is. I don’t know if he still owns the place, but I can’t believe he’d approve of this. I’ve asked to speak with him and haven’t heard back. Andy, your staff need retraining in customer service, manners, and treating people with human dignity. The longtime woman who checked me in was the same as always, and I like her; she works hard for Andy. I think she’d been off for a few days because I hadn’t seen the housekeeper, who’s great and whom I love. I’ve never had anything but good things to say about The Cozy Inn before, but I don’t feel good about it right now.

Andy has been one of the kindest motel owners I’ve dealt with. I started renting monthly in October 2019, and he went out of his way to make my room just right, including providing a microwave oven and a nice RCA flat screen t. v . He genuinely cares about people. For the first few years, he even catered Thanksgiving dinner, though I think he had to stop when inflation made prices ridiculously high. He started with the Cozy Inn and the Cajun Inn, and has since acquired two more motels, one in Dallas, Texas, and one in Monroe, Louisiana, making four altogether. His caring nature says a lot about how he runs his places. I came to Shreveport in 2015 after totaling my car and have lived here ever since, including about five years at another motel. Andy also provides a laundry room for tenants, though keeping it up must cost a lot since he’s always replacing washers and dryers. How many motels offer that kind of accommodation?
