The people I spoke with after the first woman were incredibly courteous and helpful, a quality that's hard to find even at a top-tier hotel. Still, that doesn't make this place worth recommending. I'm used to staying at hotels with similar ratings, so I'm surprised booking sites call this one two-star. Maybe this is what a true two-star hotel is like, or maybe those other reviews are wildly generous. At check-in, a woman with a sour attitude seemed more interested in ignoring us than helping. After a rather abrasive exchange, we got our keys. The room felt like what I imagine a by-the-hour motel might be like. We got two small bars of soap and two little bottles of shampoo and conditioner, and that was about it. The thin sheet and slightly thicker decorative blanket had cigarette burns, even though ours wasn't a smoking room. The bathroom looked like it had once been nice but was barely holding up: the door trim had been chewed off by a dog, and the tub floor was peeling. Getting into the tub for a shower took some nerve, though getting out was worse when the towels turned out to have yellow and black stains. They offer daily towel replacement, and while we appreciated them taking the towels we'd left on the floor, they didn't leave any replacements. We tried to get breakfast a couple of times, even just coffee or tea, but despite the advertisement, there was no food or drink available.

Candee was easily the best employee, and most of the staff were great. But after I called at 7:30 a.m. to report that the room's blow dryer was broken, it took until I returned at 5:45 p.m. for anyone to finally address it. The desk clerk said, “I have no control on when it will be taken care of.” The commode needs an upgrade, and there should be more than three pillows on a king bed. The price should have reflected the inconvenience.

I've left a wallet at a Houston hotel before and got it back more than a year later. When I asked about it, the guy remembered me and wondered why I hadn't contacted him. Everything was still inside, even my money. I'm sure I left my belongings at this hotel too, and just as sure I wasn't going to get them back. They call it Ratchet City for a reason.

I had to book somewhere else and pay double after checking into two filthy rooms here. The second had a broken fridge with black mold growing inside. There was no manager on site to refund my reservation at the time, and now I've been getting the runaround for over three days. Heather the manager refuses to talk to me by phone. Management seems to ignore guests. This place is disgusting, don't waste your money booking here.
