My company booked me here for a week while I worked in the area. At check-in the desk clerk seemed disconnected. I had to ask about breakfast time, whether there was an elevator, and how to find the stairs and my room. She didn't greet me, and told me to hold on while she finished a personal phone call. The next morning I asked where the ice machine was, but it wasn't working. There was old, rotting fruit and vegetables and broken chairs in that area. Nothing seemed updated, and breakfast was just a cup of mixed fruit. If you can spend a little more money...

We were skeptical because of the poor previous reviews, but the king suite was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The manager, Shelly, was especially helpful with suggestions for local places to eat, and I'd stay here again if we ever return to Cooperstown. We were in town for our grandson's games there over the weekend. This was the only available place in town, and it was reasonably priced.

Just avoid this place if you have another option. The room still had belongings from the previous guest and immediately smelled of urine, a stench that clung to our belongings. The tub wouldn't drain, and the bent window screen frame meant we couldn't open the window for fresh air. They took a $100 deposit without giving a receipt or any proof, so I have no way to confirm it'll be returned. Six hours later, the tub still hadn't drained, and the staff on duty couldn't do anything about it. That's poor management, not poor staff. Housekeeping also needs training about when and where to use phones and have loud conversations. They were noisy near the rooms two hours before checkout. They may not have been trained, so I don't blame them, but management should address it. The list of unacceptable things goes on and on.

Room 117 was in terrible shape, with patched blue carpet, old, grimy linoleum, and a strong smoke smell. It looked untouched since the 1970s. I was booked for two nights, but after the first I asked to switch rooms. Room 201 was nicer, though still musty. This was by far my worst hotel or motel stay. The place needs a serious revamp.
