We came back this year for the first time since 2019, after COVID and family health issues kept us away. We had our usual New Year's Eve dinner reservation, and the food was incredible. Chef Gary is fantastic. The Rockfish Wellington and salmon at nearby tables had everyone talking, while our traditional prime rib was very good too. The vegetables and roasted garlic and goat milk cheese mashed potatoes were so delicious they made me feel joyful. We'll be back soon for the Sunday Brunch Chef Gary has started. Before COVID, my wife and I used to stay at the Smithfield Inn every New Year's Eve. Wharf Hill Brewing Company, just down the street, puts on a PIG drop countdown that draws residents and people who've known about it for years. The Wharf Hill Restaurant has very good food too, as does the Smithfield Inn on past visits. The inn is well kept and historic, with a restaurant and bar downstairs. Give it a shot and enjoy yourselves.

I come every year for Christmas shopping, and it's a perfect place to stay. You can walk to the shops and good restaurants, and the staff are friendly and kind. Dining here is elegant and delicious.

I paid almost $300 a night for Thanksgiving weekend and was very disappointed. I was given a letter with my room key listing a phone number to call for anything I needed. The TV in the main bedroom didn't work, so I left a voicemail asking for clean towels and more coffee for the machine. I stayed three days and never got a reply or the requested room service. This was supposed to be an inn characterized as a bed and breakfast, but I got the bed and no breakfast or service to the room.

The woman I spoke with on the phone was unbelievably sweet and helpful, like she was sent from heaven. I've never experienced hospitality and customer service like this in the hotel industry. I wish I'd gotten her name. The inn and staff make you feel right at home. Highly recommend staying here.

Our room was spotless and inviting, and the staff did so much to make our Valentine's date feel special. The inn has a lovely historic feel, with antique details from its 1700s origins, but it's still warm and cozy and has modern touches. Our favorite part of the evening was the tavern. The bartender was friendly, knew their stuff, and made some of the best drinks we've ever had. It felt like a hidden gem, and we can't wait to return. A unique and memorable stay.
