Tru by Hilton Smyrna Nashville

I like the rooms sparse, clean, and efficient, and this place was just right. The continental breakfast was decent, with plenty of food. I picked it because it was newer and next to the Avid Hotel where I'd stayed before. The Tru hotels by hilton have become my favorites. It's about 25 minutes into town, close enough to get there without dealing with the usual traffic hazards. On the second day of my convention, I wanted to take photos around the city, and they let me check out at 1:00 p.m. That gave me time to get over to Burgess State waterfall Park.

Our basketball team had what they needed here over the weekend: clean rooms, queen beds, and basic essentials. They liked the breakfast choices too. It's a reasonable drive to downtown and Opry, with plenty of shopping nearby. We'll be back next year!

I was very pleased with the hotel, especially the late checkout, which let me zip over to Burgess Falls state park for a few pictures. I came to Nashville overnight for a convention and exposition, and Smyrna was far enough out to avoid the usual city hassles but close enough to reach downtown in 20 minutes. I'd stayed at the avid hotel by IHG at the same exit before, then noticed this Tru hotel by Hilton on Google Maps. I'd stayed at two Tru hotels previously and been very pleased. The location was a perfect distance from downtown Nashville. Several restaurants are nearby, including Chick-fil-A for fast casual, and In-N-Out is an exit farther away. The room was a little larger than my previous day at this type of hotel, and it was very clean and efficient.

The breakfast service was outstanding, helpful, and attentive, the best I've had at a buffet-style hotel. They also had hot water for tea, something I haven't found at a hotel in probably 15-20 stays. Well done.
