Holiday Inn Express Southington by IHG

The room was spotless, and the bed, pillows, and comforter were all really comfortable. The soap, shampoo, and lotion were good quality, and the continental breakfast was great. The customer service was excellent from check-in right through checkout. Highly recommended!

I’d recommend it for an overnight stay. The price was reasonable, and the place felt clean and friendly. I booked it by mistake, thinking it was the Holiday Inn in Mildale, another part of Southington, but it cost the same and included breakfast. Check-in was easy, and my room was clean and toasty on a cold winter night. It’s a no-frills place, but I just needed a comfortable bed, a hot shower, and food to get going. I arrived near the end of breakfast, so some of it was cold and stale. The pancake machine and coffee were both a plus.

I had a very nice stay and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only real letdown was that the pancake machine was broken all week. Pancakes with the eggs and bacon are something I look forward to while away for work, so without them I almost didn’t want to eat. It’s a personal disappointment, though, and I’d definitely return if they fix the pancake or waffle machine. The gym was a good size and had the basics, including several cardio machines and dumbbells up to 50 lbs. Check-in was super fast and easy. My bathroom looked modern and nice, but was smaller than at other Holiday Inn Expresses, especially around the sink. I know this is a small thing, but it matters to me.

We had to leave and find somewhere else to stay. I’m pregnant, and the room conditions didn’t feel safe for me or my baby. There was mold in the bathroom, peeling wallpaper, and stains and hair on the sheets and pillowcases. We reported it, but the next room was just as bad, and the third had the same problems. When we raised the stained bedding, the front desk said it was “just from the laundry.” I don’t often write reviews, but this experience was so horrendous that I wanted people to know. If you can, spend your money somewhere else.
