Four Points by Sheraton Spartanburg

The room itself was cool, with a living area and pullout couch, a kitchen you walk through, and a bedroom with the bathroom. I do wish there had been two bathrooms. There was also a balcony inside the hotel, which I’d never seen before. But the indoor pool was cold, even though we paid over $200 for one night because we wanted an indoor pool. There wasn’t a complimentary breakfast either. I probably wouldn’t stay here next time I’m in Spartanburg. Four Seasons, please fix that pool!

This has become our company’s go-to in Spartanburg. The bed is extremely comfortable, and the rooms are clean and spacious. As a business traveler, I want a clean place, friendly staff, and enough amenities for my basic needs, and this hotel goes beyond that. The bar, restaurant, and fitness center are all great. The gym is clean, roomy, and has the equipment I need. Melissa at the bar and restaurant is so kind and pleasant. A hidden gem.

I’ve stayed here about 50 times over the last three years, but service over the past three or four months has gone downhill badly. We were charged incorrectly and had to fight to get our money back, then were made to feel as if the double charge was our fault. The front desk staff seem bothered when you show up. Early check-in was allowed one week, then came with a fee the next. There’s no consistency or kindness, which is sad for such a beautiful hotel. Marriott has a reputation for friendly staff, but this location seems to have missed that training.

Whenever someone couldn’t answer my question, they quickly found a person who could. The staff were amazing at the front desk, around the housekeepers, and at Oak 1831 restaurant. Customer service matters, and this hotel gets it right across the board.
