Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Spokane

We chose this place for the park-and-fly deal, but the secured long-term parking area hadn't been cleared of snow, so we had to leave the car in the hotel lot. The shuttle driver, who seemed to live on site, overslept and arrived 15 minutes late without apologizing. Inside, the front desk woman seemed genuinely embarrassed and sorry, though no discount was offered. At first our keys didn't work, apparently because of the cold, after we'd carried all our luggage upstairs. The desk staff then took me room by room looking for somewhere clean, unoccupied, and without a bad smell. The one we settled on had no towels, so I got the only clean ones left. The TV was on but unusable without a remote. We went to sleep since it was late. At 4:30 the next morning, before our flight, I found a large blood stain under my pillow that wasn't mine. The toilet took about 20 minutes to drain, and there was no hot water. I don't usually make a fuss over a low-budget hotel being less than ideal, but this was easily my worst stay.

The park-and-fly option was the only good thing here, and I won't stay another night. The sheets were clean, but the bathroom was filthy and covered in mould. The vanity sink had leaked and left the rug soaking wet. The room smelled of smoke even though there's a sign saying smoking can result in a fine. The rugs and tub were awful, and the walls looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. Don't count on the free Wi-Fi, either. The continental breakfast was a joke. This place needs a complete makeover.

We'd been driving across the country to visit family and stayed here for four nights. After seeing all the reviews, I was nervous, but the motel across the street had too many rough-looking people hanging around, so we gave this place a try. I'm glad we did. The owner walked the grounds day and night with a smile, and was friendly and sociable. Every employee was accommodating, and none were rude. The room wasn't dirty and there were no bugs. It was the best hotel we'd stayed at on the trip. The kids had lots of grassy space to run and play, and the pool was cold and refreshing. I can't say enough good things about the experience.

The people were very helpful and nice, and the rooms were clean with some effort put into them. Still, I had to take the toilet tank lid off and pull the lever myself to flush. The TV was fuzzy until I adjusted the cable enough to make it watchable. One chair had a big hole, and breakfast was extremely limited. I wasn't expecting much, but there weren't even bagels.
