The historic character makes this property feel different from the usual four walls and a bed, and as a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium member I appreciate that it doesn’t have the same cookie-cutter layout as other places. The rooms are very well maintained, and the staff provide top-level service. I know some earlier reviews mentioned the nearby homeless population. This is right in the heart of downtown, within walking distance of plenty of good restaurants, which is typical for a major city. I never felt unsafe. I can’t speak to what other guests experienced, but my own stay was truly exceptional.

Malachi turned my opinion around on the second night. My first night at The Louie in Spokane, Washington, lacked service enough that I was ready to leave a bad review and stay somewhere else next time. From the moment Malachi stepped in, he showed care, attention to detail, and a real commitment to doing things well. He handled every interaction professionally and with a positive attitude, and I felt valued as a guest. He didn’t just do the job, he took ownership. His demeanor and work ethic are what hospitality should aim for, and he saved both the stay and my review. He should be training the other employees on site. He’s a model employee and an example of great service. Because of Malachi, I’ll come back here instead of choosing another hotel. His dedication made all the difference. Thank you for setting the bar so high.

I’ve stayed at the Historic monthly for four years, and after the Lusso became the Louie, I tried the new boutique style and have stayed loyal. Malachi was the best hotel brand representative I’d met in 10 years of weekly business travel, right from my first visit. The experience at checkout is one reason I now choose the Louie more often than the Historic, which is saying a lot because the Historic feels like home. The Louie has big, very clean rooms, and the bed and sheets are amazing. The charm is its history and downtown location. If you want a full bar, the Historic is 20 steps away. I love staying here after work, though I worry it’ll get so popular that it’s full during my monthly trips. The area is seedy, with homeless people around. You can’t just get up and jog around the block, so do your research if that matters to you and decide whether the area suits your needs. About the weed and urine smell another guest mentioned, it’s nothing compared with NY, Las Vegas, Denver, or Seattle. Unfortunately, since it’s legal, we have to smell it. That isn’t the hotel’s fault.

Friendly staff, clean and large rooms, nice decor, and a decent location made for a pretty good stay, despite a few hassles. The team was helpful from check-in through checkout, greeted me when I passed, and gave directions when I needed them. There’s also a nice daily gesture: free coffee and a pastry across the street at Emporium. Ambassador Elite members have the $20 daily fee waived. Parking was the main headache. The garage is about two blocks away, and the walk feels sketchy at night or early in the morning. Valet wasn’t always attentive either. I saw guests waiting 15-20 minutes out front while staff tried to reach them. I was also given a parking pass that expired before my stay ended, leaving me stuck in the garage one morning. The other issue was the Marriott account credit. After our multi-day stay costing $800, the hotel posted only $84 to my Marriott account, so the points and dollars spent weren’t credited correctly. We had to audit it ourselves to catch the mistake. A good stay overall, but keep an eye on the parking and the account posting.

Malachi at the front desk welcomed us and was very helpful. When we came back from dinner on the first night, he brought champagne to our room for our 10 year anniversary. The spacious bathroom had lovely soaps, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. We came to The Louie during the holidays, and its 1920s glam was done well. The location makes downtown easy to explore on foot, and it’s right next to the original Davenport, where we could enjoy the Christmas charm. We’d definitely stay again when we’re in Spokane.
