Hampton Inn Springfield

The staff were wonderful, and breakfast was good. The air conditioner leaked onto my bag and shoes. Maintenance was supposed to come while we were away most of the day, but the floor was still very wet when we got back. Hopefully they fixed it. It was a nice hotel, though I’ve stayed at nicer Hamptons.

Getting in was easy. I checked in through the app, got a digital key, and went straight to my room. It was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Breakfast was simple, just eggs, potatoes, pork sausages, and the usual hot options. Hilton didn’t disappoint.

Guests say the indoor pool is a big plus for families, and the hotel has free cribs and connecting rooms. It welcomes dogs and cats, which people appreciate. The free hot breakfast, including waffles and oatmeal, is often called convenient and good for a mid-tier hotel. For work, rooms have desks, free high-speed Wi-Fi, and lap desks for working from bed. There’s a 24-hour business center, a small meeting room for up to 25 people, and a fitness center with a Peloton® Bike that has toe cages. Guests can use the Hilton Honors app for digital check-in, checkout, and a digital key. It’s right off I-70 at Exit 54, across from a Bob Evans and near a Cracker Barrel, so it works well for people passing through. Reviews say the rooms are surprisingly quiet despite the highway and the beds are comfortable. Solo travelers, especially women, have also said they felt safe because the parking is well lit and the staff are professional. For local trips, it’s about 3 miles from Wittenberg University and a 10-15 minute drive from Cedarville University. The Springfield Museum of Art, the Westcott House, and Hartman Rock Garden, which is 1.2 miles away, are also a short drive. People often praise the friendly staff, especially front desk management, the clean rooms, and the breakfast variety. The drawbacks mentioned are occasional pool closures for maintenance and some dated areas compared with newer Hampton Inn & Suites properties.

On our trip from NY to AZ, we found this to be a solid hotel. The room was clean and warm, though the bed was too firm for me. We left early, before breakfast was served, and they had bagged breakfasts ready for guests heading out.
