La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Springfield Airport/Rte 66

I felt safe here traveling alone as a senior. It’s a quiet, clean hotel tucked into a residential area near the highway, with pleasant desk staff. There’s a road along a condo complex that’s good for walking a dog away from heavy traffic. They’re big dog friendly, and I never heard a bark. A couple of fast food places and a mini mart are also within walking distance. I’ll make this a regular stop on my Chicago to Phoenix trips.

We chose this La Quinta in Springfield, MO because La Quinta’s standard policy allows 18-year-olds to check in. This location requires guests to be 21, a rare exception that wasn't made clear when we booked. A mandatory notice or checkbox about the age rule would have helped. If we’d known, we’d have called or picked another hotel. Instead, my 20-year-old son was turned away after arriving. He had a confirmed reservation, Wyndham/La Quinta rewards membership, points applied to the stay, a valid credit card for incidental and damage charges, and previous experience at this hotel chain. He was driving alone from Texas toward Boston for college, three months shy of turning 21. Refusing a responsible adult who had done everything right, after confirming his booking, was unacceptable and felt like blatant age discrimination. Eighteen-, nineteen-, and twenty-year-olds are adults, including college students, military members, and working professionals, and need safe places to stay. No one showed empathy or tried to help with another option. Turning away a paying, loyal customer already on the road was unbelievable. La Quinta and Wyndham have lost my family's business permanently. Loyalty apparently means nothing to them. Families and younger travelers should take their business elsewhere unless they want to risk being stranded despite having a reservation.

Highway noise was the only downside. I bet you wouldn't hear a thing from the opposite side of the hotel. The room was nice, with a decent bed that was close enough to what we have at home that it didn't hurt my back. We stayed a couple nights on a three day family vacation. Check-in was quick and easy, the lobby was clean, and breakfast was good, a great start before heading to Branson and NW Arkansas. A great place to stay in the area.

We loved this hotel during our trip to Springfield for a wrestling tournament, and hope to come back for the USA Wrestling State tournament in March. We'd love to stay again if there's a cancellation! 🤞 The staff at the front desk were kind and helpful every time we spoke. My daughters needed help getting their tablets on the WiFi, and the staff got them connected. The fitness area was nice and bright, with several options, TVs, and a water bottle filler. Breakfast was delicious, with waffles, different eggs each day, sausage, biscuits, gravy, and the usual continental options. The rooms were spacious, with plenty of drawer and hanging storage, comfortable beds, and full sized shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and lotion instead of little bottles or bars. They weren't silent, but they were quieter than many hotels. The slow-close stairwell doors help keep noise down. I also liked having a wall thermostat and an always-on fan option. A few things weren't deal breakers. The pool felt a bit cool, though my oldest was fine and my youngest got cold quickly. Pool towels have to be picked up at the front desk. The shower was warm enough and comfortable for my husband and kids, but as a middle-aged woman who likes hot hot showers, I couldn't get it hot enough. Still, it was warm enough for me too. I can imagine many more stays here when we travel to Springfield for wrestling tournaments.
