The rooms were clean, cozy, and worked perfectly for us. We spent three weekend nights in villa 2, but had to use two different rooms because of availability. Lynette and both housekeepers we met were kind, professional, and ready to help with anything. When we asked at the last minute to stay one more night, they kindly fit us in and quickly cleaned their last available room. We can’t thank them enough. I’d highly recommend this place to adult groups or families visiting the area.
We’ve stayed at the Villas twice now, and they’ve been great both times. It’s a perfect spot for a relaxing getaway, and we’ll definitely return. The rooms in the carriage house are nice, but there are a lot of stairs to climb, so keep that in mind if stairs are an issue.
The bed was very comfortable, but in the December 2024 update I found black mold on the shower liner and mold up the bathroom walls. The liner is an inexpensive thing to replace. The upstairs suite was spacious, with a huge walk-in closet and even a washer and dryer, but its condition was a letdown. The shower wasn’t clean, there were two bottles of conditioner and no shampoo, the bathroom light flickered, and we could hear the people across the hall. Worst of all, the fitted sheet was filthy, so we slept on top of the flat sheet. We could have washed the sheets ourselves since there was a washer and dryer, but there was no detergent. Disappointed by how carelessly the room was looked after.
The Villas were peaceful and tucked away in a beautiful area, just what we wanted. Our room was cozy, comfortable, spotless, and smelled fresh. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back.
I paid for a queen room in “villa” 3 and got two full beds in “villa” 8. The room had only those beds and an old, cheap black mesh desk chair in the corner covered in unknown white stains. We stayed away from it. The website showed plush sofas and chairs, wooden benches at the ends of the beds, a kitchen area, and a desk, but none of that furniture was there. The room was dirty too, with hair all over the bathroom floor, a huge brown stain on the shower floor, and dead spiders around the room. It looked like it had barely been cleaned, if at all. We were only there overnight and leaving early, so we toughed it out. Getting in felt like an Airbnb. Nobody was at the registration desk, so you had to call a staff member on their cell for a code and directions. I’d prepaid, and nobody checked my ID or asked for a credit card. The woman who met me at the “villa” was abrupt, not welcoming, and unpleasant. I’d reserved “Villa” 3, but was sent to “Villa” 8. The neighboring “villa” looked abandoned, with no lights and grass at least a foot high. You travel through a very sketchy neighborhood to reach the golf course location, although once there, the golf course and plantation area seemed decent. What they advertise and what we got felt like one of those Temu videos. They claim to have carpeting, complimentary drinking water, a desk, dishwasher, hair dryer, kitchen, media player, and mini bar, but those amenities weren’t there. Calling this a “villa” is a stretch. I travel often and like good lodging, and The Villas at Carter Plantation was horrendous and seriously misleading in its advertising. I would not recommend it at all.
