The bed was comfortable, but the air conditioner cycling on and off all night kept me from getting restful sleep. The sink by the bathroom drained so slowly that it nearly overflowed while I brushed my teeth and washed my face, though it did eventually empty. The shower area was dirty, and its floor looked discolored and grimy. We got there at 5:15pm after being told nobody would greet us after 5, which seems early. We unloaded at the front porch before finding out there was parking behind the building where we stayed. If coffee or tea is offered, to-go cups would be useful. It wasn’t a pleasant stay, and I wouldn’t recommend this bed and breakfast.

The location was great, and management was very nice, but I’d warn vacationers unless they’re after a very vintage 1920s Victorian house feel. We had the Rosen Room for two nights, listed as a budget double, and it certainly felt budget. Dusty furniture, dirt in every floor corner, badly chipped baseboards, and peeling paint on the cast iron sink and tub. The room was dim, especially the bathroom. The rear stairwell looked like a construction zone, with filthy carpet stained by paint and mildew. The shower pressure was weak, and the water swung from scalding to freezing. At $165 a night, I expected better. We also learned breakfast had been $20 per person per day since January 1. The price itself wasn’t my issue, but a bed and breakfast listing should say clearly that breakfast isn’t included in the room rate.

We had breakfast at 7 each morning, which let us get on the road early, and it was phenomenal. The lemon cream pancakes and French toast were especially good. We spent five nights in the cottage apartment while visiting our daughter, who moved here from NC in January. It was spacious and felt like a home away from home. Some days we drove parts of Route 66, and we also went to Eureka Springs, AR. Everyone on staff was welcoming. We’d definitely stay here next time we’re in Springfield.

We only had one night here and wished we’d had time to explore the inn and area. The whole staff was so friendly, and breakfast was fabulous, served right at 7 even though we had to drag ourselves up and leave by 0730. The quaint house was incredibly clean. Our room was large, with a comfortable bed, and the tub was perfect for starting a romantic evening. I’d absolutely return and take more time to enjoy the place.

The carriage house and main house were beautiful and clean, with the rich history of a Charles Dickens novel. The breakfast was out of this world, and I’ll absolutely be back. From arrival on, everything went beyond what I expected. The staff were incredibly kind and treated me like a friend or family. Thanks for the best travel experience I’ve ever had!
