Radisson Hotel St. Paul Downtown

I was in town for work and unsure about the hotel because the rate was so reasonable, but I was pleasantly surprised. My king room was clean and roomy, with a sofa bed, mini fridge, microwave, and a larger 46- or 50-inch TV. The bathroom was small but fine, and the shower got hot quickly. It was about eight minutes from work, close to good food options, and I felt safe in the area. I’ll stay here again.

I travel around the world often, and this was the poorest-quality Radisson I’ve experienced. The manager was somewhat rude instead of offering compensation. The toilet didn’t work, I found old hair in the bed, and breakfast was completely gone. The restaurant was closed Sunday, with no safe places to eat within walking distance. The area also felt unsafe for going out in the evening. My advice is not to book here.

Two people really stood out in a bad stay: the shuttle driver, Sean I believe, was warm and personable, and his wife at the front desk during checkout was funny and kind. She knew what had happened and did her best to tell us she was sorry. We were in town for a wedding and the check-in itself was fine, but our room looked like it hadn’t been cleaned. There were several strands of hair between the sheet and comforter, and black stains on the pillowcases. When we asked downstairs about cleaning, we were told nobody could do it, and a staff member suggested we remake the beds ourselves. We asked to move. The woman seemed annoyed and said we’d be moved to the third floor because it had just been deep cleaned. That room was better, though still not great. The hotel badly needs updating, and staff need training in cleaning rooms. The woman handling our move also said she wasn’t going to clean because she was off the clock, and seemed unwilling to do more than the minimum. The price was crazy for the service, and I wouldn’t return.

We picked this hotel for the pool and hot tub, so my kids were disappointed when the hot tub was broken and the pool was closed around 4 to 8 pm. Staff were friendly, but our bathroom had no shower curtain and ended up a wet mess.
