La Quinta Inn & Suites St. Petersburg Northeast

For what I paid, I expected a lot better. The bathroom door wouldn’t shut properly, and the shower was gross and hadn’t been cleaned well. Its head wouldn’t release or stay put, so taking a shower was difficult. There weren’t any cups in the room, and bottled water in the lobby cost $7. Breakfast was cold. I’ve had better service and amenities at hotels for half the price. Do better!

The extra charges and poor room made this a terrible stay. I booked through Priceline for 2/6/26 to 2/9, then was told I owed another $5 a day for booking through a third party. I’ve used Priceline before and never had that charge. The first room was noisy, facing a busy road with terrible sound insulation. When I asked for a quieter room, I had to pay $22 more per day, and that room was even worse. There were holes in the walls, paint was needed, and the desk chair was cheap and broken. The lobby staff were also unfriendly. The pictures and prices are misleading. Spend a little more somewhere else.

Room 205 cost $250 a night and was covered in mold. The furniture was dirty, the AC rattled all night, and the shower curtain didn’t fit. The second-floor ice machine was broken, too. Don’t be fooled by the “newly renovated” claim. I wrote to the manager and still haven’t heard back.

We left after our first night and won’t return. We’d booked for a couple of days and planned to stay through the 10th, but my husband told Danny at check-in that we had a service animal. Walking back in through the side door later, we ran into the night clerk, Jay. She saw the animal and told us to go to the front desk. My husband said it was already registered, but she rudely repeated herself, then warned us to expect the cops at our door when he refused. The next morning, we told Danny what happened and asked to speak with a manager. He said he hadn’t told Jay about the service animal and accepted that as his mistake. But her attitude and threat were her own, and there was no need for any of it. We travel for work and have stayed at many La Quintas. This was easily our worst experience.
