Rodeway Inn & Suites Stroudsburg - Poconos

The price was reasonable, and being right beside a Dunkin Donuts was handy for coffee since the hotel doesn't offer any. Still, I hope I never need to stay here again. We arrived around midnight after realizing we’d locked ourselves out of our home, and the person at the front desk was asleep on a bed pillow. The room looked clean at first, but I kept wondering what might be hidden. Broken pieces covered the walls and furniture, almost as if there’d been a huge fight with weapons, and the pipe under the toilet and the toilet paper holder had been pulled out of the wall. The hotel wasn't full, so I couldn't understand why we were assigned that room. Maybe all the rooms are beat up.

We had hot water, and the clean bed, nice pool, and gym were positives. The hotel was in a great location for my trip to the mountains, since I wasn't there to spend time in the room, so it did what I needed. But the room was damaged and smelled bad. There was water damage, and behind the dresser I found dust, cigarettes, and brochures. The floor had damage I couldn't explain, and there were red-brown splatters on the walls and ceiling. It was also either too hot or too cold.

The desk attendant was very nice when we arrived around 10, but our room was awful. The photos in the listing didn't match it: there was a stain on the ceiling, which I assume was water damage, and another on the headboard. It smelled of cigarettes despite being a non-smoking room. The hallway carpet smelled too, and spiders greeted us there. I felt so uncomfortable that we stayed just one night, and I was very disappointed. We stayed last week, and ever since we've been trying to get a refund for the rest of our stay through the Hopper app. They say they've been trying to reach the manager, but apparently the manager hasn't been in the building. More than a week without being able to contact the manager over this is bad business. For just a little more money, you could stay at a better hotel down the street. I guess you get what you pay for, but I'm highly dissatisfied and disappointed.

The front desk gentleman was great and did the best he could, and at least the bathroom was clean. The rest of the room was gross, and we could hear everyone above us. There were ceiling leaks all along the hallway to our room. It's a decent-sized hotel, so I'm not sure why they'd put a guest in that hallway. It cost over $100 for one night, and I wouldn't complain if the price matched the quality of the stay.
