Americas Best Value Inn & Suites Sumter

We arrived around 11 pm and felt scared to get out of the car. People were outside smoking weed, and both rooms I looked at smelled like smoke. The photos don't look like the actual place, which came across like a hotel for homeless people. This place is horrible. They should take the listing down.

The only thing I liked was the location, with Walmart just down the road. I didn't cancel because I couldn't get my money back. We reserved two queen beds but got one queen and a pullout bed, whose cushion was flat. Before we even opened it, there was all kinds of trash underneath the cushion. When I asked for bedding for it, I was told there wouldn't be any extra until housekeeping came the next morning, after our 11 o'clock checkout. It also took 10-15 minutes for the hot water to warm up. The photos didn't match the room.

The place is a mess, and I should sue over the false advertising. It needs a new name, too. The walls looked so bad I could've sent every square foot to ancestry.com. I've seen cleaner sheets at bus stops, and there wasn't enough toilet paper on the door casing to make up for the empty roll. If this is the last place in town, sleep in your car.

There are events here 4-5 nights a week, and I doubt people can wait until they get home to use the restroom. But the restrooms were out of toilet paper, and the desk person was rude and dismissive when I mentioned it. He said the restrooms weren't connected to the bar or restaurant, so it wasn't his problem. Imagine employees having to use those facilities without TP, then touching surfaces or serving food and drinks. This seems like a health department issue. Find somewhere better to stay.
