Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge

We had plenty of room and a view of the mountains. The food was wonderful, and we enjoyed the coffee bar in the lobby too. We’d definitely stay here again.

I’ve visited this lodge every year for over seven years, but after the way the bartender treated me, my wife and I won’t be spending money here again. She told me her name was “Day,” and was outright disrespectful, with a horrible attitude and poor customer service. It makes it seem like the lodge is hiring anyone these days. We won’t spend our money somewhere we aren’t respected.

The buffet breakfast had a good range of options, and the fresh fruit was delicious. We also slept really well: the blinds and curtains made the room truly dark, which mattered in July. Our room was clean and spacious, and the shower had great pressure. Denali takes center stage from the back porch, restaurant, and lounge, with blooming fireweed adding a bright contrast to the white mountain when we visited. Inside, the fireplace is a warm welcome as you walk through the large doors.

The deck has beautiful views, the hiking trails are maintained, and the restaurant's food is decent. Just know there’s no air conditioning. When it’s over 70, the guest rooms can get uncomfortably warm.
