I paid $160 for a room that wasn’t clean, couldn’t be changed, and left me handling basic housekeeping myself. At check-in, I was surprised by a mandatory $100 deposit that hadn’t been disclosed on the third-party booking site, which immediately undermined my trust. The sheets had a visible oil imprint shaped like someone’s body, little black bugs, hair in the bed, mascara on the pillowcase, toenail clippings by the mini fridge, dirty heel marks in the bathtub, hair across the bathroom floor, and dust throughout the room. It didn’t look inspected before it was assigned. When I called the desk, I was told no other rooms were available. Exhausted, I asked for clean linens so I could remake the bed, but was told I’d have to walk to the lobby to get them. As a solo guest, walking around the building at night in an uncomfortable area to fix a housekeeping problem isn’t appropriate service. I chose Days Inn by Wyndham Tallahassee I-10 because it carries the Wyndham name and I expected basic cleanliness and professionalism. This stay fell far short. I strongly encourage local management and corporate to review the cleanliness practices and guest service expectations at this location.
The room was okay, quiet, clean, and spacious, but I doubt I’d come back, even though it looks fancy. The shower didn’t work, the tub was only half cleaned, there were no bathroom towels, and people in nearby rooms were smoking weed and cigarettes despite these being non-smoking rooms. The toilet blocked the bathroom door so it wouldn’t close. Breakfast wasn’t worth getting up at 6am for. Muffins, cookies, and water felt more like a snack. The TV wasn’t smart, which isn’t a big deal, but I’d like to watch Netflix when I’m away with my man. HELLOO!!
At checkout, my room number had accidentally been put under someone else’s name. That person had paid their deposit in cash, and the desk clerk almost handed me their $100 bill. I noticed the name on the envelope wasn’t mine. Apparently when someone pays cash, staff check the room for damage before returning the money. Good thing I caught the mix-up, because I’d paid by card, not cash. The Days Inn didn’t meet my expectations at all. There was no coffee maker in the room, which I’d never encountered at a hotel, and the shower looked gross. They advertised breakfast, but all they had was two kinds of muffins, three kinds of protein bars, three kinds of yogurt, and bottled water. For such a big hotel, I expected much more. Days Inn, do better, train employees to pay closer attention to detail, and serve a better breakfast.
I’ve been a Wyndham member for eight years and stayed at hundreds of their properties, but this was the worst trip I’ve had with the company. The lobby smelled like a nursing home, and everything looked outdated, like the 80s. I booked on the Wyndham app, then found out at check-in that there was a $100 deposit I hadn’t been told about. I didn’t bring an extra hundred. They told me if I didn’t pay, I’d lose the reservation, they’d charge my nightly fee anyway, and I still wouldn’t get a room. I paid it with my dinner money, got a key, and found cheap dinner. When I asked the front desk for plastic forks, she literally laughed and said it wasn’t happening. The neighbors slammed doors and yelled all night. At 5:35am I woke to a woman screaming and crying, and police came to the room next door because a man was unresponsive with no pulse. In the commotion I managed to grab some breakfast, but there was nothing there. I could have gotten a better breakfast from the vending machine. This was the worst trip I’ve had with this company. If I were Wyndham, I’d pull the affiliation from this property. They should get ahold of me, because I’m about to delete my membership over this. Hope this helps other consumers choose a better destination.
The breakfast was barely a breakfast, just granola bars, a packaged muffin, and yogurt if you were lucky. After years of staying here several times a year because parking a truck and trailer was easy, we're done. We had a king reservation with a confirmation and a card holding the room, yet arrived to an almost empty hotel and were told there were no kings and no clean rooms. They eventually found us a clean queen, but toilets across the floor wouldn't flush or refill properly. We were moved three times, and ended up in four rooms in less than a day. Other guests nearby were dealing with broken toilets and being moved around too. The next day there was no maintenance staff to fix anything, and they deactivated our keys without telling us. The owner plainly doesn't care. They blamed a football game, as if that were a surprise, and even on Monday, with the hotel and lot still nearly empty, there were no clean rooms. We're staying elsewhere from now on.
