Stephanie from housekeeping deserves a special thank you. She helped track down my wallet and glasses, then arranged to have them shipped back to me. Her care and honesty left a lasting impression. The shuttle was another real highlight, just a call away and quick and reliable for pickups and drop-offs. Everyone was friendly and ready to help, and the hotel was spotless throughout. We felt welcomed from arrival, and we’ll definitely return to Hotel Flor. Highly recommend it for the service and cleanliness.

The Dan restaurant has a lovely interior and good food, and the daily $15 credit also works at the Cass Coffee shop. Our room was very clean, with a temperature we could control and a beautifully updated bathroom. This is a 1920s classic, with lots of stairs opening onto a restored lobby, though there is an elevator and a special lift for larger wheelchairs since the original elevators are small by modern standards. It’s close to the highways, but the courthouse side of downtown doesn’t have much entertainment within walking distance. I’d stay again. The main thing missing for me was a rooftop bar or pool like newer hotels have.

Nicholas was especially kind and helpful the whole time, and the service was amazing. Our room felt nice and personalized for us. The shuttle turned out to be a lifesaver, an extra perk we hadn’t even known about. I don’t usually write reviews, but his service was so good I wanted to make sure he got credit.

I’m glad they didn’t tear this place down in the 90s. My first stay, and the room on the 24th floor was impressive, with plenty of early 20th century charm. From a design perspective, the lobby needs better lighting. Those wagon wheel chandeliers don’t fit that beautiful, history filled space. I hope Hilton can eventually budget for something more suitable. Modern design doesn’t always belong in a setting with so much history.

The price was good, but I won’t be back. My room had a tub even though the website picture showed a walk-in shower, and the desk should have asked which I wanted. The elevator situation was a mess: they need more, or all three need to be running. On Sunday, cruise passengers were leaving in large numbers, and the hotel hadn’t warned other guests or set aside an elevator for them. With a bell cart, I waited 20-30 minutes, and it took several tries just to get downstairs. The whole thing was incredibly annoying and handled poorly. I also couldn’t use the $15 hotel credit for drinks because of the crowd. Hilton lost my business; I’ll stay with Marriott in Tampa from now on.
