Hyatt Place Tampa Airport/Westshore

We booked six rooms for a rugby tournament. They were comfortable, clean, and very nice, and the hot breakfast bar was great. We needed early check-in for some of the men flying in early, and the assistant general manager, Laquandra, was amazing and really helpful. All the front desk staff were wonderful too. We'll definitely stay here again.

The room layout was what really won me over: the work and kitchenette space was handy, the living area felt open, and I liked that the closet was around the corner and the bathroom was laid out well. The staff were lovely, and the little lounge worked nicely for a snack or drink. There’s also a huge mall just two blocks away. I’m in Tampa a few times each year and normally book the Grand Hyatt, but it was full this time, so my company put us at this Hyatt Place, about three miles away. I’m glad they did. It was my first Hyatt Place stay, and I’ll come back. I found it surprising that it’s the same age as the Grand Hyatt because it feels much fresher. The Grand Hyatt could learn a thing or two from its sister hotel.

The rooms were great, and everyone was really nice. My issue was the bar and food. The people covering the front desk were also running those, and they didn’t seem to be bartenders. They didn’t know how to make some drinks, and a few cocktails on the menu came in cans. Breakfast was pretty gross unless waffles and yogurt are what you want. The food was premade and warmed up in back.

The rooms were clean, roomy, and comfortable, and the service was wonderful throughout. Jim and Christina were especially great to work with. I won’t hesitate to stay here again, and this will be our company’s first choice for future trips. A few colleagues and I had booked another hotel for an event, with room blocks at both places, but that hotel had serious problems. We suddenly needed somewhere else, and the Hyatt team got same-day rooms for us right away. They went out of their way to help, even though the trouble wasn’t caused by a Hyatt property.
