Days Inn North Tampa Near Busch Gardens

I’ve lived here for eight months and haven’t had bed bugs, fleas or roaches. Pest control comes through and sprays the rooms, and the front desk staff are very nice and understanding. It feels affordable, quiet and peaceful, and I feel safe here. The place only gets rough when people ignore the rules and do whatever they want without considering others. Luckily, management doesn’t put up with that. I see the negative reviews, but I guess those were from bad tenants who got kicked out for breaking the rules and not respecting their neighbors or employees.

The hot water at the sink was scalding, and the sink itself was broken. I counted about five cockroaches, and the TV had only a few fuzzy channels. The remote didn’t work either. Even getting into the room was a struggle: the key wouldn’t work because the door was jammed, apparently after someone kicked its lower part, and we had to push hard to free it. The room smelled awful. At checkout the next day, the front desk person was careless and unsatisfactory when we brought up a few problems. That poor service was the final straw. The $50 deposit also wasn’t mentioned on the website before we arrived. This was the worst hotel I’ve stayed at, and it taught me to research places before visiting.

Room 368 had no furniture except a broken chair, and the floor was covered in debris, trash and papers about mold. We’d gone to Tampa on a last-minute long weekend to visit Busch Gardens and hadn’t booked anywhere ahead. This was the only place we found. It cost $75, which seemed steep for what it looked like, but the desk clerk said there were no discounts during high season or long weekends. We decided to stay. The woman at the desk apologized and let us wait while she finished checking in another guest, then moved us to room 262 on the second floor. That room was another trash dump: dust everywhere, garbage in the drawers, a wig by the TV, no toilet paper, and a shower and toilet that looked like they’d never been cleaned. She gave us towels and toilet paper but more or less brushed us off when we explained. We asked for some kind of discount, but she said no. We also saw the people who checked in after us return to the desk because their room was already occupied. This place is terrible. I’ll never come back and hope nobody else goes there.

After only four hours, I’d never felt so unsafe or dirty. There was no garbage can, the toilet paper looked dirty, the room smelled moldy, and the carpet was so filthy my socks turned black after five minutes walking around. The door wouldn’t close all the way, and roaches were everywhere. We called the front desk about getting a refund, but they said they could move us and wouldn’t return our money. If there are roaches in one room, why would we trust the other rooms? I wouldn’t stay there again and recommend no one ever stay at this Days Inn.
