Metro Tempe Extended Stay

I was in town for the weekend and only needed somewhere to sleep. Even with low expectations, I was disappointed. The bathroom was disgusting, pillowcases were stained, and outlet covers and lightbulbs were missing. The front desk blamed people stealing things, but that doesn’t explain why the room lacked basic items. With some competent cleaning and administration, most of this could be addressed right away. Don’t stay here.

I saw at least a dozen live cockroaches in the kitchen area. The whole place felt gross, and I couldn’t stand staying there. The building smelled funky, the bathroom lock didn’t work, and the old sheets had stains and hair left by the previous guest. I also asked for blankets, sheets, and pillows for the pullout, but they don’t provide anything extra. At checkout I read the negative reviews and saw the owner claim they’d improved cleaning after other guests left. That’s completely false. You could get very sick here. Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I’d give zero stars if I could. DO NOT STAY HERE.

The staff were friendly, and the second room I requested was better than the first. But I wouldn’t recommend staying here. I’d rather book a real “Extended Stay.” The room was overpriced. I paid $200 because of early check-in, plus a $35 nonrefundable damage fee. It smelled strongly of bleach, and the website photos didn’t match the room. I’d suggest asking to see it before paying. I tried to get a refund, but there wouldn’t be a manager until the next day. Since I was from out of town, I stayed the night.

The floor in our room was so dirty that walking barefoot or in socks after a shower turned the bottoms of our feet black. The card didn’t work well the next day either, but the staff sorted that out without trouble. We had a great stay at this Motel 6 otherwise. The kiosk was different, but easy and effective, and Ben was a big help. The location is great, with lots to do nearby.
