Alpine Lake Resort

The lodge has a gorgeous setting and an old-time feel in a good way. We came just for dinner in the lounge, where the staff were friendly and attentive and the drinks were fairly priced. The wings were good, the onion rings were a favorite, and the chicken cordon bleu was tasty. I'm looking forward to coming back in spring for fishing and another meal.

The lake was the highlight for us, with kayaks, canoes, and paddle boats available to rent at the boathouse. There's golf too, and we enjoyed the pool. We spent a weekend here; our room was clean, with a balcony view of the lodge and golf course. The rooms felt a little dated, though remodeling was underway. The arcade could use an update.

Our server stayed professional and did her best, but the manager barely spoke when I asked for him, then walked off without following up. They did take the salad off the bill, but that wasn't what I wanted from a meal out. I wanted good food, service, and a welcoming atmosphere, and instead we waited nearly an hour. I ordered a rare burger and it came well done. The salad had to go back three times before it matched the menu description, and even then it still wasn't quite right. The whole visit was frustrating. I won't return and can't recommend the restaurant.

We stayed in a cabin, and all the amenities were available to us. The location is beautiful, and the Helpdesk staff were friendly.
