I've stayed here four times over five years, including extended visits, but this time was seriously below par. The rooms are still quiet, comfortable, and clean, and I have no cleanliness complaints overall. But the mattresses seem never to have been flipped. I rotated mine and a candy bag fell out, expired in 2020, and the mattresses need replacing. Housekeeping often misses something like towels, toilet paper, or coffee. There was no patio furniture or greenery in the planters, a persistent sewer smell on the lower level, and one elevator had a wonky door. Service and administration were the worst parts. One person seemed to be handling food service for a full hotel, with long waits, while two people stood idle at the front desk. The staff seem untrained on the hotel software. I had several billing problems, including mistakes of around $9,000, and figuring out which days housekeeping would come took too much trial and error. The person replying to messages in the app wasn't helpful. The place has gone downhill, and I won't stay again until they get things in order.

We love staying here when visiting our son at RPI. It's close to the college, within walking distance of good restaurants and bars, and the Hudson view from the room is beautiful. Everything, from the lobby and bar to the rooms, is spotless. The service is consistently professional and courteous. On this visit, someone from the hotel brushed snow off all the cars in the lot after a little overnight snowfall. Then, with a major storm approaching, we decided to leave a day early. Chris at the front desk went out of his way to help us get our points refunded and let us check out a little later so we had time to shower and pack. We'll be back many times. I strongly recommend this place if you're visiting RPI or in the area for any reason.

Shyla gave us amazing customer service this afternoon. Our plans changed unexpectedly in a major way, even though we'd booked the stay months ago. She worked with us and fully accommodated the change. She could teach a class in customer service.

The stay was okay, but the water tasted so strange that we relied on bottled water and soda for all three days. It had a plastic or chemical-like taste, unlike water I’ve had at other hotels and bed-and-breakfasts. The hotel should look into its filtration.

When the weather’s warm, it’s nice to watch boats travel along the Hudson, and there are some great restaurants within walking distance. The little bistro also serves consistently good food throughout the day. What really makes this my go-to place in the area, though, is the staff. They’re among the nicest I’ve met and always seem happy to help. The TVs can act up sometimes, but that’s a small complaint.
