Super 8 by Wyndham Troy IL/St. Louis Area

We kept smelling urine in the room and eventually found out why. It had seeped through the mattress topper and into the sheets, getting on my daughter. She thought she was sweaty and kept asking for the sheets to be changed. This was completely unsanitary. There’s no way they didn’t know before our stay, but they rented out the room anyway without changing or even cleaning the mattress. On our last night, they couldn’t replace it. The whole room reeked after we discovered the source, and he tried laying three sheets over it but had no other topper to contain the smell. The managers weren’t available and there were no other rooms to move to. Then they charged us for the stay. I’m more concerned about what diseases my daughter might have been exposed to from that mattress. I assume you’d argue about it, since money seems to be why you didn’t replace it in the first place.

The room looked clean when we arrived, and everything checked out when I inspected it. The front desk staff at night and in the morning were both very nice. Breakfast was simple: waffles, bagels, yogurt, bananas, cereal, and coffee. Nothing special, but the stay was on the cheaper side. I only ate breakfast one of the three mornings because I was there to see friends and mostly used the hotel to sleep. I had no complaints about noise or cleanliness. This was my second time staying in the area, and I think I’ll come back to this hotel on my next visit.

The towels were clean, but looked overused and more gray than white. The water was extremely hard and not good for my hair. The room seemed clean, but I felt the price was high for what I got.

I’m completely flabbergasted by this Super 8. The room stank of cigarettes, like someone had used the AC as an ashtray. The bathroom door wouldn’t close properly and the lock didn’t work. Then I found a big clump of someone’s dead skin, apparently straight off a foot callus, in my bed. Disgusted and disappointed. Fun trip, though.
