Oceana Cottages

We’ve stayed twice now and will come back. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and amazing, and the beach was beautiful with enough room for guests to spread out safely and keep their distance. Staff were friendly and accommodating, and we got a great deal on a room upgrade. My husband and I spent our honeymoon here, and it was the perfect place to celebrate and unwind. Thanks so much to Helena for making the stay wonderful.

The sunsets and ocean views are beautiful, and sitting out with a dozen other cottage guests to sip morning tea was calming. The beach is pebbly and rough under the sand, hard to walk on barefoot, and you sink into the sand. Check-in was smooth, and the people at both check-in and check-out were very friendly and helpful. The ocean view is shared by all the cottages. The room is very small, and road noise was loud at night. The outdoor chairs need replacing: some aren’t sturdy, and it seems people claim the sturdy ones as soon as they arrive. The bed needs a full mattress casing; it only had a cheap mattress cover, so bring your own bedding to be safe. There were only two pillows on the full bed. We didn’t dare use the ancient-looking shower because it didn’t look clean. There’s no outdoor grill, and the bathroom door latch is broken, so the door won’t stay closed. I’ll update my review at the end of our stay.

We haven’t stayed here in years, but it was perfect back then for our young family of three. Our son loved walking straight onto the beach, and we enjoyed sitting out and relaxing, as much as young parents can. We also loved how easy it was to get to Provincetown, which we really enjoy. As our family grew to four boys, we looked elsewhere, though it sounds like there are larger options here. We happened to fall in love with a place in Wellfleet, so that wasn’t a fault with this wonderful place. I wish we’d found it before having kids, since it’d be cozy and romantic for a couple. We never had service issues, and friends who still stay here say the same.

The cottage was cute, clean, and well stocked with the things we needed. It’s a well-kept, family-owned place, and you can fall asleep and wake to the sound of ocean waves. We had a spectacular Cape Cod vacation and were glad we stayed at White Village. The stove was the one issue. We’d prepared and seasoned many zip-lock bags of meat to cook dinners and save money for outings, but the gas stove often didn’t work. When it did, it set off an extremely loud fire alarm that could be heard through all the cabins. It was embarrassing to have everyone on the property look through their windows and freak out while I tried to cook hamburgers. When I spoke with the owner, all he could say was that it was how it was and couldn’t be fixed. I can’t wait to go back, but next time I’ll bring a grill.
