Spark by Hilton Tucson Reid Park

The breakfast was edible, with toast, cereal, yogurt, and boiled eggs, but pretty underwhelming. That's fine, though. The more frustrating issue was the hot tub being out of order. Hotels should stop advertising pools and hot tubs that guests can't use. The outlets in our room didn't work, and the mini fridge was disgusting when we arrived. The room was comically large next to the tiny bathroom. Maid service is every other day, which may be mentioned online, but I hadn't seen that before and didn't know to look for it. We were only there two days, so effectively had no maid service. There was no body wash in the complimentary toiletries, either. With so many places to stay, I wouldn't choose this one again. I take the hot tub issue personally. It feels swindly.

The staff were friendly, the location was great, and the place was clean overall. The sheets made little flashes of static electricity in the dark, so adding a little static guard in the laundry might help. The shower was a real downside. It took 15 minutes to reach lukewarm, never got hot, and had low pressure. Breakfast options were minimal and disappointing, with very small plates. When we arrived at 8pm, the front entrance wouldn't open unless someone buzzed us in. The front desk attendant said it was a known issue they expected to address within the week.

It's a half-decent stay, not somewhere to avoid at all costs, but the hotel is old and seems to have had only minimal touch-ups despite photos that look new. The AC is an old, loud under-window unit with only on and off operation, and it could wake you at night. The strange bedding has a blanket split into three layers that never stays together. On busy days the lot doesn't fit every guest's vehicle, so I had to park at a business next door. The breakfast was basically nonexistent, and the room wasn't cleaned for two straight days after check-in, although they say rooms are serviced every other day. Hot water took an extremely long time to arrive and was only lukewarm; once, brownish water came from the faucet when I switched it to hot.

It's very clean and next to Reid Park/Zoo. The continental breakfast is basic, but it's the only hotel I've seen with a yogurt dispenser. The Italian Restaurant across the street is worth the short walk.
