Kiepersol Bed And Breakfast

We shared the two-bedroom cottage with another couple. It was clean and furnished nicely, and the wine tasting was fascinating, especially hearing the family's history and learning that the wine is made from grapes grown right there. We usually don't like sweet wines, but the cab blends were very good, and the Tawny Port was amazing. The tenderloin steaks were perfect too. The crab cakes were the one thing I wouldn't recommend. Everything else was fantastic, and we'll be back.

We came to town for the Rose Festival and arrived Thursday, hoping to do more at Kiepersol than just taste wine. We took the wine tour and tasting around lunchtime, had dinner at the restaurant, then stayed overnight in the Paarl Room at the main B&B. It sits on a corner facing nature and has a large, well-appointed screened patio, with lots of seating and a fan. Since it was a girls' weekend and we'd like to bring the guys next time, they showed us the Cottage and Stable House on request. The B&B works well for a couples' getaway or a girls' weekend.

Kiepersol B&B is beautiful, clean, and tucked among vineyards in a great neighborhood. The owner makes us feel welcome without being stuffy, and is around when we need them. Tyler, Texas, has become a second home for us, and we're enjoying it to the fullest. We had a lot of fun and can't wait to come back to Tyler and stay here again, eat, and taste wine for a little longer.

We liked having a reserved parking spot near the building as B&B guests. Even with the restaurant busy, we didn't have to hunt for a space. In the Champagne room, my husband and I had a cozy, clean stay, and the staff were kind and seemed to anticipate what we needed. I only wish there were a loveseat or a more comfortable place to sit and read or chat besides the bed. Breakfast was fantastic. The coffee was the best I've had brewed at a B&B, with the strong, robust flavor I like. I'd absolutely recommend the eggs Benedict, the mix of flavors and textures is hard to describe. At the restaurant, we started with the duck cigars, which set a high bar. My husband loved the sea bass and said it was the best fish he'd had in years. I had the filet minion with lyonnaise potatoes. Everything came seasoned just right, with no need for extra salt, pepper, or steak sauce. I'd seen reviews complain that they only serve Kiepersol liquor and wine, but that didn't bother me. Trying what a winery, distillery, or brewery makes is part of the fun. Their dark rum was delicious in a mojito. Well done, Kiepersol!
