The house itself is lovely, the beds were comfortable, the sheets and towels were clean, and it’s close to the beach. There’s also a small parking area on site. We had an okay stay, but only because we knew what to expect. This is basically a dressed-up Air BnB, not a Bed and Breakfast. After reading the rave reviews, I booked expecting the old bed and breakfast experience. From what I read, management changed last October. Nobody greeted us in person. We got a text with the entry code and our room name, but it didn’t say where to find the room, only that it was at the northern corner of the building. The same code was meant to open the room, but it was finicky and took the attendant or manager several tries. I also didn’t realize I’d be sharing a hallway bathroom with another room. Only two rooms have this arrangement, and the latch on the bathroom door that opens to the hall didn’t work. One guest showered with the door ajar. The shower drained poorly, leaving water in the tub. Breakfast was at 8 AM, just bagels, cream cheese, and one bowl of fruit. There was no cooked meal like earlier reviews described. Don’t expect a typical bed and breakfast.

The inn is in a quiet, peaceful spot, just a short walk from the beach, restaurants, and attractions. We were welcomed warmly as soon as we arrived, and the host went out of their way for us. The food was great, and the beautifully kept place has a lot of charm and thoughtful details. Perfect for a romantic escape or just a restful break. Highly recommend, five stars.

Christopher made us feel welcome and was easy to reach whenever we needed anything. My girlfriend and I have stayed here a couple of times, and we’ve really fallen for the place. The rooms are comfortable, and it’s refreshing to see how much effort goes into this BnB. We’ll definitely come back the next time we need a night away. 10/10, would recommend.

We had a lovely little getaway and would happily come back. The rooms are cute, the beds are comfy, and Chris, the innkeeper, was helpful and kept in touch. It’s an adorable B&B by the beach, with lots of great places to eat and attractions nearby.

It’s heartbreaking for me to see that our cherished home and Inn has declined. My husband and I worked hard to make Barclay Cottage known through excellent service and the joy of sharing our home with wonderful guests. Some of those guests became dear friends. We left the Inn in 2014, after it was featured on the cover of Coastal Living magazine. Seeing the place in this state is tragic to us.
