I've stayed here for years, and I agree with the many positive reviews. It's a well-kept place that I continue to recommend. The staff feel like a family, and one housekeeper has been there for 18 years. When I found the bathroom towel rack broken on arrival, maintenance showed up within five minutes. They keep updating the units, and the solid furniture looks good, without the worn or dirty pieces I've seen elsewhere. The view is amazing, and the restaurant has lasted for years. The TVs get cable, so you can watch live news instead of recycled reports. There's an indoor pool, an exercise room with modern equipment, and a sauna. The kitchens are small because Virginia Beach limits the room sizes for oceanfront properties, but they're fully equipped and work well for cooking. The in-unit jacuzzis are genuinely large, unlike tubs with jets that some hotels call jacuzzis. I've seen a review call Four Sails old and past its prime. A few blocks away, the Cavalier Hotel dates back to 1927 and will soon be 100 years old, so does that make it past its prime too? People can have their opinions, but mine is that Four Sails is a wonderful, well-maintained place.

The location was nice, and I liked having a small kitchen, so I was planning to book here again next year. But after our visit, we kept getting timeshare calls. I've asked over and over to be removed from the list, and they still won't respect that. They keep referring to some presentation we never attended, and we never agreed to be contacted by them in any way. I'm tired of asking nicely and being ignored. I'll stay somewhere else if I return to Virginia Beach, even if it costs more. I won't consider this place again.

The beach view from the full-length balcony is beautiful, and the staff are great. Parking spaces are tight for a minivan or larger vehicle, so smaller cars fit best.

Housekeeping, especially Terri, and the front desk staff were great. But as an owner who hadn't been here in a few years, I was sad to see the state of our unit. The toilet rocks, the oven and its racks are rusty, the fridge ice maker leaks into a crisper drawer, and the carpet needs a proper cleaning. The GM hosted wine and cheese, but showed up unshaven in a shirt that was three sizes too small, with his belly sticking out. SMH.

We booked a King oceanfront months ahead because we wanted room for my wife's cpap and planned to watch the sunrise from bed. Instead, we got a Queen, and the bedroom faced the street rather than the ocean. The three-night stay was very uncomfortable. The front desk told us several times someone would contact us about it, but nobody ever did. The place was dirty and needs repairs. There were cigarette burns on the tub, water kept running in it, and the dishwasher door slammed down because its spring was broken. The floors were tarnished and worn, and the hallway posters had Virginia misspelled.
