I demanded a refund after we found bed bugs, but they refused. When I showed the front desk a photo, they acted as if this happened all the time and didn’t care. They just offered another room. The rooms were disgusting and the staff were horrible. Even the outside looked ghetto. This trashy, dirty, bug-infested motel isn’t worth your money. We arrived for a last-minute trip, and at first glance the place seemed okay. Our first room smelled like weed. In the next room, the toilet was already clogged and the shower flooded. The last room was where we drew the line: bed bugs and a big scratch in the ceiling with peeling paint.

The smell from my room is still on my clothes. If you stay there, lift the bed and you’ll find crumbs, hair, critters, and disgusting stains. A bed bug landed on my leg. Gross. Somebody needs to get OSHA involved now. This will haunt me for the rest of my life.

Breakfast was included, which I really appreciated, and it felt decent for the money. The hotel was clean, but the decor seemed stuck in the 80s. My room was okay, though the walls were so thin I could hear everything from the other rooms. The bathtubs need replacing.

The most serious problem was the hair dryer catching fire while my wife was using it. That’s a major fire hazard and points to a failure to inspect and maintain equipment. The building also had a foul lingering smell, and the dust and grime were so bad that my children coughed through the night. The beds were uncomfortable, and the linens smelled as if they’d only been rinsed with water. I’m a professional Safety Director, and I’m documenting the health and safety failures my wife, kids, and I encountered during our one-night stay at the Days Inn by Wyndham Wayne. Even arriving was unpleasant: the parking lot was littered with trash, and the front desk staff were unfriendly and unprofessional. Our room was infested with roaches, stained throughout, and had a filthy bathroom that looked as if housekeeping had skipped it entirely. There were food safety and basic habitability concerns too. Three family members got sick right after eating the breakfast eggs. The room was unreasonably cold, and we couldn’t adjust the thermostat. Paper-thin walls let constant noise through from the hallways and neighboring rooms, while the spotty Wi-Fi made it impossible to handle any necessary business. It’s clear to me that the property is being run with disregard for people’s health and safety. I’ve since learned that this location may be close to losing its operating license, which would be a necessary public protection step. Authorities should audit the place again right away and keep it on their radar for license revocation before something more serious happens.
