This hotel is pretty run down, which I kept in mind, but the staff communication was still frustrating. I called about a room and was told one was available. When I arrived, the woman recognized that I’d called, then a man came over and said there were no rooms because rain had caused roof leaks in almost all of them. It had rained on and off, sometimes hard, overnight. Maybe they’d received complaints and decided to inspect the vacant rooms, but it bothered me that it took until 2 or 2:30 to tell her about the maintenance issue. It felt lazy and poorly communicated.
The room was tiny and cost me $70. It was cold, and there wasn’t even a towel for my shower. A horrible experience.
The staff, a father and son, were friendly and helpful. I’d found this place while looking for an inexpensive room where I could sleep for a few hours during my drive through Wichita. For an older motel, the room and appliances were surprisingly clean and cozy.
I’ve stayed here many nights, and the staff have always been wonderful, whether I arrive early or late. When I lost my bank card, I called the next day and they had kept it at the office. That says a lot about their honesty. The rooms are nice and clean, and I’d recommend the place for families or people traveling alone.
