Tru by Hilton Wichita Northeast

The front desk staff were the best part of the stay. They moved us right away when the toilet in our first room started leaking from a broken wax seal. There was also a live roach in that room. I didn’t get a photo because I’m the smash-and-flush type. The second room was better, but the hotel should be cleaner overall. I saw just one cleaning staff member as I was leaving, so maybe they’re short-staffed. The leak may have attracted the roach, but there had to already be roaches in the hotel for one to get up to the second floor. This isn’t the humid South where they can just live outside year round. I liked the room’s minimalist look, though I could hear everything from the neighboring rooms. Renovations are underway, so I hope they address the noise between rooms and don’t just redo the outside. The TV was frustrating too. I’m not sure whether it uses Q2Q or X1, but it probably needs resetting because it would jump back to the home screen and even turn up the volume by itself. It made watching a movie annoying. I’m not sure why this hotel is rated so highly.

Our room was really clean, and parking was easy. There’s plenty to do nearby, and the outdoor seating was a cute spot to read or eat. The hotel itself is a very cute little place, with good breakfast and amazing staff.

We usually enjoy Tru by Hilton, and this one was clean and comfortable with a good breakfast, like the others. The front desk clerk seemed irritated when I asked her a question. When I tried to talk to her, she just stared at me like I was bothering her. There was less fruit topping at breakfast than we’ve seen at other locations, though it was still good.

Everything was close by, and the staff were very nice, especially Patrick at the front desk during the 3-11pm shift. The rooms were really clean and well cared for. A very nice hotel in Wichita.
