Harbor Mist Family Motel

The beach is really close and the pool is nice, and when we were mistakenly given a one-bedroom instead of two, they fixed it without trouble. The room was generally clean, with fresh-looking paint and clean, usable beds, but it felt cheap and old in a way that wasn’t charming. The carpet was sticky, the bathroom grout stained, and the towels were thin and rough. There was nowhere to hang hand, bath, or beach towels. A coffee maker was there, but no coffee or filters. The AC cooled the room, though it was loud. The toiletries worked fine. Parking was a nightmare. Russo's is an easy walk for pastries and coffee. The motel exterior has that kitschy, dated Wildwood look. Could be worse.

Dianna, the manager, was so accommodating and even signed me up for emails about specials, which helps a lot as a single mom. I felt safe bringing my son on my own, and the place was warm and welcoming. Maria from housekeeping kept the room tidy and stocked with essentials while we were at the beach. We loved the room, and the pool was just the right temperature. It’s close to the beach and the wooden playground equipment my son loves.

The customer service was the best part. The woman at the counter took my many questions about early parking, late checkout, early check-in, and leaving the car after checkout seriously. She didn’t always say yes, but checked availability and gave me a fair answer. The pool was lovely, with a shallow area for little kids, and the kitchenette was useful with appliances in good shape. It’s a simple place, with mostly painted block walls, wire shelving, and a few small closets. The room was too small for our large family for more than a weekend, though I’d stay again for a shorter visit. If you want the Hilton, look elsewhere, but for a no-frills stay, it works. Thanks to the owners for a good weekend!

We were there July 6-9 with our 14-year-old daughter. Diana was amazing and treated us like family, and we appreciated her advice about the dolphin dinner cruise. The room was comfortable, and the kitchenette meant we didn’t have to eat out every meal or pack kitchen essentials. The patio grills were great, too. Best of all was the band playing Sunday night.
