We had four adults and stayed two nights in a two-room space with three queen beds, which worked out great. The room was clean and stocked when we arrived, and it was cleaned again while we were out, with the beds made and towels and washcloths replaced. Restaurants, shops, and museums were an easy walk away. This is an older, vintage-style place, not a modern fancy hotel. The floors creak and aren’t level, the building isn’t soundproof, and the AC units are in the walls. But the beds were really comfortable, the bathroom had been nicely updated, and the water got hot right away. It’s a comfortable, inexpensive stop on historic Route 66.

I wasn’t staying on that nasty property. The room had hair all over, even painted into the bathroom wall. We checked in at 2 PM, went touring Route 66, and got back at 9 PM. At 9:30, I called to ask for the room to be cleaned and offered photos and videos, but staff said we’d waited too long to complain. They acted like we must have planted the hair and repainted the wall with it. The staff were extremely rude and unhelpful. They’re now saying I “ran from the cops.” They called the police after Expedia contacted them to sort out the hotel’s refusal to sanitize the room. I had left two hours before the police were called. They said I was harassing them, but it was actually Expedia calling. Their response to this review says a lot. I have proof of the call and of Expedia contacting them. Don’t stay here.

The king rooms looked tiny at first, but they were very clean, and the beds were comfortable for our two-night stay. We could walk to everything in Williams. My daughter went running each morning and felt safe on her own.

For one night, this was great value and the price was good. The room was quiet and well kept, and everything worked. The shower was hot, and the AC kept the outside heat from making the room uncomfortable. The owner came out to greet me and checked me in when I arrived right at 3. Check-in was easy enough. It’s clearly an older property, but maintained well. The bed was a bit hard and I woke up with a sore back. Rooms near Route 66 get a lot of road noise at night, which can wake you up.

The Star Hotel is right in the heart of a beautiful town, and the prices were almost too good to be true. I came with family and our big dog after a few other places turned us away for bringing him. The family who owns this hotel was extremely friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us. I highly recommend it. -Cheers, Alyse
