We stayed three nights in the Thomas Jefferson room on the third floor, and I wish we’d booked longer. The old-house character was just what we wanted, and both the bedroom and bathroom were clean. I’m particular about pillows and mattresses, but both were comfortable. There wasn’t a TV, which gave me time to read before bed. My husband and I had come from Boston by plane to celebrate our 40th anniversary and visit Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown. Alex made delicious breakfasts each morning, and his warm hospitality and lively conversation made the trip feel special. We’d love to return.

Alex knows the area inside out and shares thoughtfully chosen suggestions, usually over a tasty breakfast. The house is beautifully presented, comfortable, and exceptionally clean. It’s become a new favorite for us.

We loved the little touches throughout this charming B + B. Alex cooked a great breakfast every day and was lovely to talk with. My husband Aaron and I, both William and Mary alumni, stayed at Cedars for our honeymoon. We’d booked the colonial-style Rebecca Rolfe room and were happy with it. After Alex heard we’d just married, he offered us the larger Patrick Henry room because the couple booked there had switched to a first-floor room. That thoughtful upgrade made the stay even more special. We especially enjoyed the window seat, bathtub, and vanity.

I’m already thinking about coming back next year. Alex and Abby answered all my questions and helped me plan the trip, and the staff made the getaway feel wonderful. It was cozy and private, yet had the amenities of a hotel, and I could walk to Williamsburg. A favorite morning moment was chatting with the other guests while Alex, the owner, served delicious banana bread and talked about the area.

I had a lovely evening here in April. Colonial Williamsburg was easy to explore on foot from this perfect location. Alex clearly puts a lot of effort into making guests feel at home, and the rooms are clean and cozy. He also made a great breakfast the next morning. A great place to stay while visiting the area.
