Wingate by Wyndham Williamsburg

The service stood out throughout our stay. Everyone we dealt with was helpful, attentive, and ready to assist, and check-in was quick. The hotel is close to everything yet quiet enough to rest. Our room was clean, with a comfortable bed, good lighting, quality amenities, and thoughtful touches. The facilities were better than I expected: the pool was well kept, the gym had good equipment, and the common area stayed tidy. Breakfast was varied and delicious, one of the best parts of the visit. From arrival to departure, we had an excellent experience. I recommend the hotel and will come back on my next visit.

The lobby was clean, the staff helpful, and the drinks for sale were reasonably priced. The rooms were small but fine, and the bed was comfortable, though the sheets were thin and neither comfortable nor warm. The free breakfast was limited, so larger groups or picky eaters may want to eat elsewhere. At night, the train tracks nearby were loud enough to wake us several times. The shower dripped all night, and the water took about 15-20 minutes to heat up. I'd never had that happen at a hotel, but was told it was because the hotel was busy. The walls and ceiling are thin as well. I'd stay again on my own, but not with my family. The evening noise left us exhausted and affected our daytime outings around Williamsburg. The bathroom experience was terrible, and I wish some of the payment had been comped.

The only issue I noticed was that there weren't enough accessible parking spaces. Otherwise, it was a great weeklong stay in Williamsburg, and I'm very glad we chose this hotel. The beds were comfortable, and when we asked for extra pillows and towels, the staff were kind and accommodating. The owners or management are doing a great job. I'd stay here again, and it's a good choice in the area.

Room 102 was in a great location, and the accessible king room looked good with a very comfortable bed. But whoever designed the accessible room has never needed accessibility. It had a bathtub instead of a walk-in shower, and the lighting was poor: the bedside lights couldn't be reached from the bed, the desk and chair had no light, and two tiny high-up lights on a wall panel were useless. The fridge had no freezer for my insulin cold packs, and only one day's coffee was supplied. The phone didn't work either. Breakfast was skimpy, and nothing was replenished during the half hour I was there. Housekeeping made the bed, emptied the trash, refreshed some bathroom items, and respected my belongings. But there was no coffee after the first day.
