Courtyard by Marriott Wilmington Downtown/Historic District

Kyle made the valet experience smooth from beginning to end. He greeted me right away, took care of my car, and was both professional and quick. His upbeat attitude and attention to detail left a great first impression and shaped the rest of my visit. It's rare to get service that's so personable and efficient. I'd gladly come back and highly recommend the valet. Give that man a raise!

January 23 - 25, 2026 We spent three days at this downtown Wilmington Marriott and gave it 4.4 stars. Being close to everything was a big plus. The staff were mostly professional and helpful, we got two water bottles at check-in, and there was an affordable garage nearby for $10 a night. Our room on one of the highest floors was quiet at night and overlooked the museum. It was a king room with a sitting chair and a desk with a chair, but cramped, with a small fridge. The hotel has a gym on the second floor, and while the lobby is small, the eating area is spacious, with a bar, restaurant, and Starbucks coffee area. The smaller room, a toilet that didn't always flush easily, a hand I scratched twice on the tight cabinet around the fridge, an empty bottle left under the bed, and tiny luggage carts cost it 0.6 points. My husband called this one of the nicest Marriott hotels he's stayed in, with the best staff he'd met there, apart from one person. One front desk staff member with long blonde hair couldn't answer when I asked about good places to eat nearby. She said she didn't know any because she didn't eat and was under 21 so couldn't drink. I hadn't asked about drinking, and her answer felt focused on herself instead of helping guests. My husband had dealt with her earlier and said she was annoying. The slim white male at the front desk with nose piercings helped us most. He found me a soft blanket, told us about the nearby garage as a cheaper option than the $33 a night hotel valet, and gave us two bottles of water for the road. He made sure we had what we needed during the stay and before leaving. We could walk to lots of fun spots downtown or drive to places a little farther out. We visited The Cotton Exchange, Papercut Books, Hidden Grounds Coffee, The Black Cat Shoppe, and the Museum of the Bizarre. For a couple of days here, I'd suggest getting a larger room if you can, since this was the only room available. There's no microwave in the rooms, and there's just a small coffee maker, so I had to heat food in the lobby microwave. The nearby garage is worth using and just a quick walk across from the hotel.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Wilmington Downtown while in town for business. The hotel was very clean, and everyone we met was friendly and welcoming. Kendrick provided excellent service, and we also really appreciated the late checkout another team member arranged. It made our travel day much easier. We'd happily stay again.

The location right downtown is great, and the rooms were comfy. The staff were very attentive, too. I used loyalty points and got great value. I'll be back!
