Hampton Inn by Hilton Wilmington Downtown

Restaurants, shops, and things to do were all an easy walk away. I was here recently for work, and the room was carefully cleaned with a comfy bed. Every staff member I met was friendly and helpful.

The staff were great, and so was the location, but the hotel itself was a different story. The first room had no working heat, though they moved us right away. In the next room, there was black mold on the baseboard and some brown substance oozing up through the bathroom floor. Breakfast was the usual Hampton Inn spread, which was fine, but my wife tried to get water from the juice machine and it sprayed everywhere. There wasn't water in it, just condensation runoff from the drink machine's chiller. We appreciated how helpful the staff were, but I'll stay somewhere else next time I'm in Wilmington.

The staff were helpful and apologetic, and even the valet was nice. That's the only good thing I can say. We had no hot water overnight, the air unit sounded like an air raid, and the room lights and bathroom faucet didn't work. The guest laundry was out of order too, and the rooms looked shabby, with wallpaper peeling. Parking was a nightmare and ridiculously expensive. I wouldn't stay here again, and I feel like I should get some money back.

Ron at valet made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived. He was genuinely kind and friendly, and handled everything quickly and professionally. Fantastic service, and a great personality to go with it.
