The Wilmington Inn

We come back to the Wilmington Inn year after year, and this has been our cozy refuge for eight years. My wife loves Megan’s French toast and pancakes, while this year I especially enjoyed the new open-faced eggwich. Every morning, the smell of Megan’s fresh sourdough and other baked goods sets us up for the day. After breakfast, we head out on our daily adventures. In the evening, we often gravitate to “Charlie’s Place” for a cocktail before dinner. When the weather cooperates, Charlie lights the fire pit, and it's a warm place to meet people and share stories. Keane’s “Somewhere Only We Know” captures what the inn means to me. The world seems to slow down here, and we can relax and let it pass by. When life gets hectic, I know I can find some calm and renewal at the Wilmington Inn, perhaps with hot chocolate, a warm blanket, and a good book.

My parents were staying at the inn for their anniversary, and I wanted flowers waiting when they checked in. I called that day from North Dakota, and the owners offered to pick up an arrangement and a box of chocolates while they were going into town. They called me after collecting everything and let me pay over the phone. They went above and beyond to grant my request, and their commitment to guest satisfaction is clear. I'm so grateful. If I make it back to the east coast, the Wilmington Inn has my business.

We only stayed one night on a whim while passing through, but everything exceeded our expectations. Charlie and his wife Megan took great care of us, and the room felt comfortable and homey. Breakfast and the other goodies were phenomenal. We're glad we found this place and hope to return for a longer stay.

We held our family reunion at the inn, and Charlie and Megan went out of their way to make sure it was a fantastic stay. They and Alexa were so friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere felt cozy and homey. Wilmington is a cute town, and the inn's location is just right, with everything either a short walk or quick drive away.
