Super 8 by Wyndham Winona MN

The hallway on the way to my room had a noticeable cigarette smell, and the hair dryer didn’t work. Still, the room had a small refrigerator and an oven, and it was decent for a short stay at the price. Super 8 Winona is budget friendly and close to plenty of shops and places to eat. Breakfast is free, though the choices are limited. Nothing fancy, but okay if you need an affordable place for a short stay.

The tub had long hairs wrapped into the shower curtain, so I removed them all and rinsed the tub thoroughly. It seemed like the room hadn’t been properly inspected or cleaned, and the carpet had noticeable damage and could use replacing. I’d expected a $10 reimbursement after booking through brek.com with a specific checking account. I contacted that website’s support, but they were clueless and asked for verification I didn’t have. I wish I’d gotten the promotion I saw, but I didn’t screenshot it, so I had no proof and wasn’t reimbursed. :-)

On November 27, 2023, while dealing with black mold in my apartment, I booked two nights here. After the first night, my wife woke up and found bed bugs in her pajamas. When I went to the front desk, they laughed at me and called me an idiot for booking there instead of being kind and understanding. I argued with them and eventually got reimbursed for both nights, but nothing covered the $250+ it cost to clean my belongings or the many newborn diapers I had to throw away.

There’s cereal and snacks for breakfast, and this is the closest place to the trailhead. It’s a great place to stay if you’re climbing at the Winona Ice park.
