Hawthorne Inn and Conference Center

I didn't actually stay at The Hawthorne because a medical issue meant I had to cancel on the day of my reservation. The staff were understanding, and everyone I spoke with was courteous and professional. I expected to get screwed over, but the opposite happened. They handled it kindly. Thanks to The Hawthorne. I'll absolutely stay with y'all next time I'm in Winston- Salem.

The location was good, the staff were very friendly, and the room and other facilities were clean. My room was roomy too, with a nice desk and a small table. We were just passing through, and it was a great deal for the night, though I'm not sure I'd return. The hotel felt a bit run down and in need of freshening up. Wallpaper was coming loose, the toilet leaked, and the toilets were so loud when flushed that the whole building could hear them. The beds weren't very comfortable, the room felt stuffy even after the A/C had been on for a while, and the bathroom was quite small.

The hotel is an easy walk from Old Salem, a few restaurants, and a trendy bakery. Kaleidium is also walkable if you're up for 10-15 minutes on foot. The lobby and main hallway feel upscale, and there's a nice pool. The desk and dining room staff were helpful, and the front desk gladly sorted out our one room issue. Breakfast was okay, though they were missing a few items, including milk for the cereal. The room felt dated and a little worn, but for the price and the overall experience, I don't have any major complaints.

I've traveled a lot, and this is the best 3 ☆ hotel I've stayed in. Everything was tidy, there's lots of parking, the staff were super friendly, and the rooms were spacious. The elevator was incredibly fast, faster than any I've ridden outside of the Burj K. I couldn't find fault with the place. I wish every hotel in this price range met this standard. Thanks to everyone working there, and I hope to see y'all again soon. ◇
