The staff were so friendly and helpful, which gave the stay a really nice personal touch. The place itself is rustic but well kept, with several scenic buildings just across from the riverwalk. I’d recommend it for a couple’s getaway or for families who want to be close to downtown.

The only real plus was the location, close to everything in Wisconsin Dells and an easy walk to downtown. The motel didn’t look like the photos, and for an off-season night the room wasn’t worth what we paid. We booked five rooms for the whole family. One had hair on the pillows and dirty sheets, another had broken air conditioning so we had to move, and in a third we found hair again along with a cockroach beside the bed. Noise was another problem. We could hear everything from other rooms, and at one point someone hit the ceiling hard enough to shake the bed. It scared us. Breakfast runs out quickly, so go early if you want much to eat. They had eggs, bacon, biscuits, waffles, sausage, hash browns, and cereal, but there wasn’t enough left later.

The Carriage house is right near the strip, and I liked the rest of our roomy, cute first-floor Stable room. I was especially looking forward to the hot tub, but its water stayed hot for less than a minute, even after we waited a while. The upstairs loft was using its tub too, but the water never warmed up for long. In the middle of the night, a clanking noise from the locked bathroom closet woke me. It kept going and left me awake. If we came back, I’d want to try one of the other houses.

They were very gracious when we had to leave ahead of schedule and refunded us in full. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and they’d given us a free room upgrade too. I’d definitely recommend this place, especially for couples. Breakfast is included as well.
