Hostel & Suites Del Rio

We booked two nights at Hostel & Suites del Rio and ended up staying four because we liked it so much. The dorms were clean and looked after, with roomy lockers for keeping your things secure, and towels were included. There's a big kitchen for making meals, plus an asado grill for a local touch. The hostel's right by the old colonial town, a short walk from the sea wall. I also enjoyed relaxing in the outdoor area. A comfortable, convenient base in Colonia, and I'd definitely recommend it.

This hostel was so quiet, and the mattresses were incredibly comfortable. I slept better than I have in ages while backpacking. The dorms were clean, had large lockers for your stuff, and towels were provided. There’s a big kitchen and pleasant seating areas both out front and in back. Definitely recommend it.

The prices were very good, and the staff were helpful around the clock. There’s a nice yard, a kitchen, and even an asado grill. It’s clean and well equipped, right by the old colonial town and only a five-minute walk from the sea wall. I wish I’d chosen this place over Viajero for my first nights.

The shared rooms are close to the bathroom, and the air felt so stuffy that I couldn't sleep, so I ended up staying in the Lobby. This may only be an issue in winter, so I can't say whether it happens all year. If they improve the ventilation, I'd give it five stars.
