Nuevo Hotel Ciudadela

The service was nice, and the location is central.

The hotel receptionist was very friendly, but the rooms are quite basic, with uncomfortable beds and a musty smell. Hot water in the showers only lasts for a limited time, so you have to be quick. Some guests said the shower pressure was very weak in certain rooms. The shower stalls use curtains, which leaves the whole bathroom wet. The price doesn't match what the hotel offers.

The location makes it easy to walk everywhere: the main street is a block away, the historic district is two blocks away, and the river is three to five blocks away, so you can come and go as you like. The neighborhood is quiet, and there is always street parking in front, though the hotel has no parking or patio. It's an affordable place that gives you what you pay for, so don't expect more. Reception staff are friendly, the room has air conditioning, the shower temperature is comfortable, and the bed is a good size. There's an empty minibar. The bedding isn't great or spotless, and the furniture is old: a chair, a small table, and a small wardrobe with no hangers. The TV is a modified monitor sitting on a table. The bathroom is small, and you can hear noise between rooms. Wi-Fi doesn't reach the second floor unless you're right by the door. Breakfast choices are limited, and we had to ask for replacements. The living room is small too, with two armchairs and a TV.

We rented two rooms, and my brother-in-law mentioned that his had no hot water, though that wasn't an issue for me. The rooms we used were comfortable, with air conditioning and cable TV, and the bathroom was clean. Breakfast was plentiful and had a good range of food. Everyone on staff provided excellent service, and the location is hard to beat. I'd recommend it if you want to be close to everything and explore on foot.
