We stayed just one night. The hotel was quiet, and the staff were very friendly, which was its saving grace. But the breakfast room wasn’t clean, and we spotted a cockroach there.

We stayed at Austral Hotel from 08 to 15.03.2016, my wife and I. I asked to change rooms and was moved to a very good one. The employees were great, and we were satisfied with the stay. Breakfast was simple but good, and the location is convenient, close to everything. The air conditioning, TV, and minibar all worked well. The elevators are old, but they function normally. For one night, it was a worthwhile stay and good value. The hotel is well located downtown, though the area gets very quiet at night. Wi-Fi was excellent. The facilities are old but satisfactory, and the TV really needs an upgrade, it was still a 14-inch tube set.

The location is good, and breakfast was just about reasonable, but that’s not enough to make up for the condition of the place. It was dirty and poorly maintained, with dusty carpets, a broken toilet flush, and towels and sheets with holes that weren’t changed often. I wouldn’t recommend it. It costs too much for what you get.

It’s an old hotel, but it was very clean, and the team working there were polite and pleasant. It’s one of the better value stays. I’d certainly book Austral again on my next trip to Montevideo.
