Hotel Royal

The room was small and basic, with a double bed and a single, cable TV, and air conditioning. The sheets and towels were good, and check-in was fast. It’s an inexpensive, acceptable place if you need a few hours, a night, or a stop along the way. Noise carries from the adjoining rooms, though. I’d stay again if I were nearby.

I came away really disappointed. The bathroom latch was broken, and wind came through a window that wouldn’t stay shut. The mattress was so worn that I could feel the bed frame. The AC kept switching on every ten minutes for just a minute, and the bedding was summer-weight in winter. I’d only consider staying here in summer, since winter would be freezing. Even at a fairly low price, you can find much better.

It’s a small, low-cost hotel near downtown Montevideo, and it’s been enough for a good stay. The service is wonderful, and I’ve never had any problems there.

The bed was clean, but there was no hot water and the shower needed a better cleaning. The air conditioning barely worked, and the equipment throughout felt quite old.
