Oqsaroy Guest House

We booked a family room for one night in Samarkand, but when we arrived to check in, the owner said it wasn’t available. Instead, we were given two rooms connected by a door at another hotel just a few metres from the one we’d booked. This review is about that other hotel, where we actually stayed. I’ve attached a picture of it. The beds were so hard they felt like wooden planks. Although the mattresses looked around 4 or 6 inches thick, tapping them made a hollow wooden panel sound. I couldn’t sleep. The pillows and blankets were soft and good, but the wooden floors creaked when we walked on them. We went for breakfast at 9. The woman had already put the food on the table and didn’t ask if we needed anything. She gave us a bowl of oats that was only mildly warm, so I can’t say anything positive about the food or that experience. The owner did say we could leave our luggage and use the common toilet after checking out. He also helped arrange a cab to the railway station, which was a great help. The bed was the main problem. If the staff had checked whether we needed anything, this could have been a four-star review. I also hadn’t stayed at the main hotel I originally booked.
