Arda Plaza Hotel

The room problems kept happening even after a staff member moved us on the second day. We were told a technical issue affected several rooms, but the hotel acted as if it were no big deal. The quickest response we got was when they agreed to let us check out, and we left after the first night. Our first night was already miserable. The AC stopped working, and they suggested we sleep with the window open, which made us sick. The shower door seemed ready to collapse, and the soap and shampoo dispensers were empty and looked poorly maintained. Breakfast was meager, and once the eggs ran out, there were no refills. Staff often seemed clueless and Googled answers instead of helping. When we mentioned the missing airport transfer we had booked, reception just shrugged. No one had shown up, and our calls went unanswered, so we used Yandex to find a cab ourselves. The reception area was messy and unwelcoming, and groups of men checking in late at night made the atmosphere uncomfortable for families. We chose Arda Plaza Hotel because of its glowing reviews, but after this horrible stay, I find them hard to believe. Our experience was nothing like what was promised.

I arrived in Tashkent at 1 am with nowhere to sleep, after a very stressful search for accommodation at that hour. The hotel had told me on the day of my stay, while I was already traveling and past the check-in time, that it was overbooked and could not host me. I had booked two months ahead because my flight arrived late, and had confirmed the 1 am check-in several times. They even messaged that morning to confirm my arrival, then called hours later to cancel. When I complained that they had put me in a difficult position, they said they would see if another hotel in their company could take me and asked me to wait. As you might expect, I never heard back. This is UNACCEPTABLE. Do not trust your reservation with this hotel.

I had booked through Booking, but at 13:30 on the day I was due to arrive, they sent me a message in Russian cancelling the reservation. They offered to move me to another hotel, but said I would have to pay for the taxi. Ridiculous!

Three days without working AC, and after I complained to reception so many times, all I got was “I don’t know.” Very, very bad experience in my life.
